This story made the BBC news. They interviewed school children who wore glasses and they all thought that the new emojis did serve a purpose, as it made them seem less like "nerds".

Is that because you are social distancing? We are led to believe that it is so very contagious, especially when indoors.

Personally I have no idea whether I have had it or not, taken the odd test about a year ago which came back negative, but the symptoms are so very similar to the common cold that it's almost impossible to say cold or covid.

The biggest problem is that the tests have been proven to give false positives, so it seems to me that they are worse than useless.

I hope that your wife gets back to peak fitness very soon.

So 5!=1x2x3x4x5=120?

Harking back to my schooldays, you always do the multiplication or division sum first BEFORE attempting the addition or subtraction unless brackets are used, in which case the bit inside the bracket is calculated first, am I right? All of which would mean the answer is 5! or 120.

Why did I get mixed up in all of this?

My simplistic way of seeing the "problem" is that the answer is five. Why dos he say that we will not believe it? Unless you do the right hand side of the equation fist, then the answer becomes 230-110=120.

But most people in the western world read from left to right.

That question reminded me of this old chestnut - can you work it out?

You are stranded on a desert Island which was inhabited by just two tribes, one tribe always told the truth and the other tribe always lied.

You had had no idea what tribe the person you were talking to came from. How could you phrase a question to that person, which would elicit the truth every time, regardless of what tribe the person was a member off?

I don't think you can beat this video you made a few years ago Gordon. https://youtu.be/8mRPQNhLA-M It has a lot more pace about it, and in my humble is a lot more visually appealing.

It's a bit like myself when I keep videoing the same subject over and over, I tend to run out of ideas, there's only so many angles you can use. My first video I took of Hyde Hall for example, is probably the best version I took.

Yes, I have sent an email to Alfred, and he replied via a PM. Check on the opening page top right hand corner, if the "PM" is in BOLD then there is a PM waiting for you.

Very nicely done Gordon, I can see a lot of hard work has gone into that film. Nice scenery, lovely animation, acting was a bit wooden, but kudos to you for having a go. Makes you appreciate just how talented those who act for a living have to be.

The video had a "melodrama" feel to it. I'm assuming that was the intention?

The alien certainly had an interesting taste in men!!

To be very honest Paul, I am not quite sure what I think of it. Not too many laughs in it, not particularly eye catching, in fact it the "play" could well have been written for the radio. How often does your mind wonder about what will happen when you eventually "pass over"? I guess most people have thought about it, to a greater or lesser degree, but not too many people openly talk about it, even to their other halves.

I am interested in your motivation for making such a video, what inspired you to write and film it. I have now seen a few of your videos and each one made me think much more than the average You Tube creation, at least it wasn't politically driven, unless I am missing something.

How did it make me feel? A bit confused, and more determined than ever to enjoy life while I am still capable.

Thanks for the link.

Do you always get those messages when you forget to pay your phone bill Gordon? I would try changing your network provider. It's all a bit spooky.

Very good Gordon, but just when it started to get REALLY interesting the film stopped. I guess you used the old adage, "leave them wanting more". I'll have to Google "Nope" to find out what it was all about. Thanks for the link.

Not that I am taking sides, but on my computer Joe's link doesn't do anything, as you say Gordon "most peculiar"

I'm very glad that you replied to Gordon's post Eric, his 'odd moment video' completely passed me by!!

It was thoroughly entertaining, loved the shot of the dragon fly, (I may have got the species wrong), that was a brilliant capture, the rest of the video was none too shabby either!!

I suppose you are right Eric, but Autumn seems a very long way away now, we are experiencing some very hot weather here in southern England. A week or two back it got to just over 40 degrees, thankfully it has now fallen back to the high 20s, which is quite hot enough for me.

Yet another insight into your weird and wonderful mind pberk.

How long into the future do you think this scenario will be, and who would be the unlucky person being gently bullied into submission? Lots to think about. I did like the special effects, especially the roaming eye, you have a marvelous imagination.

As for myself, I will stick with videoing flowers, trees and shrubs, with the odd bit of wildlife or even an occasional steam train!!

It take all sorts - have to go now, the telephone's ringing...

Yet another visit to RHS Hyde Hall in Essex. Quite a short one, just over 5 minutes, I hope you enjoy it.

I remember trying to "edit" some video which I took in Sri Lanka back in the late 1980s. I played the raw footage from the camcorder onto the TV and paused it just before I needed to record it. I then pressed record on the VHS recorder and play on the camcorder and quickly paused the recording where I wanted the clip to end. To say it was laborious would be an under statement. Needless to say I gave up after half an hour or so.

I stumbled across this video from the BBC Archive Channel. It's a fascinating look at how to edit home videos back in 1987. To a man of 71, that seems just like yesterday, I do not think I could be bothered to edit anything using the equipment Sue Robbie was demonstrating. https://youtu.be/_cnQv8JCsX4

Around a month ago I started receiving a lot of junk e-mails, all from different companies. They all have one thing in common though, they all start with "Stephen and Jill". Practically all of them seem to be wanting me to claim compensation from somebody or other. Another set appear to be from gambling sites, trying to entice me in with offers of "free spins".

I guess I must have clicked on something which triggered all of these unwanted e-mails. I simply delete them. Some are caught in the junk mail folder, but the odd one gets through to my inbox.

Does anybody recognize any of these companies, is there anything I can do to stop them sending these things?

A very enjoyable video pberk, it had me guessing all the way through what the outcome would be.
It was beautifully made and made a lovely change from the normal kinds of videos people tend to put up on these forums. It must have taken ages to shoot and edit. More please.

That was a lovely video Gordon, very restful and peaceful, in contrast to your latest submissions!!

Loved the coots with their chicks, not to mention the terrapin.

You managed to get nice and close up with your telephoto lens, and I did not detect any wobble, I guess you left a lot of it on the cutting room floor?

I really enjoyed that Gordon, just how many recording devices did you use on that? You could never have shot that using a single camcorder. I thought the shooting and editing was done to perfection.
Maybe have a whip round to buy the singer and guitarists some new trousers as what they were wearing looked a bit threadbare to me, not to mention the holes!

Some lovely images there Gordon, your mate is a very accomplished photographer.

I made the schoolboy error of not having a Sangria to drink whilst watching, which meant that for the first two or 3 pictures I was distracted by having your mate's name written in the bottom left hand corner of the screen, but after I realised that it was not going away I concentrated more on the glorious pictures - very nice choice of music by the way and thanks for the link.

That was simply stunning Gordon, had to watch it a couple of times, once before doing my ablutions and once when I was dressed!! Probably more information than you actually needed...

Nice touch to start it off, with the old Cliff Richard Eurovision song from the 1960s. Congratulations on that one!

That lady with the ring of fire hula hooping was spectacular, reminded me of the old Johnny Cash number. On a technical note, I thought the split second freeze frame towards the end of the vid was inspired, very nicely done.

Here's hoping that your next attempt to get home will prove more successful, we are experiencing some very nice weather here in England with temperatures set to get to 30 decrees on Friday in the south of the country.

Very good video Eric, I enjoyed that. Was the ode your own work, and if it was, what came first the video or the ode?

Thanks Alfred for reading the description, it was a typo, I missed the "s" off Marks Hall, now corrected. Funny you should say, "It looks well worth a visit for anyone who happens to be in the area with some time on their hands."

We had some business to attend to close by and the meeting took place early in the morning and Jill suggested that we go to Marks Hall, it's the first time either of us had been there, and their web site looked good, so we thought we would give it a try - I'm glad that we did.

Now been to no less than four new locations in the first 6 months of 2022, making up for the last couple of years I guess!!
