ahhhhhhhhh ... what a leisurely pace of life you depict. Here we have non-stop "bad" news on television. It's nice to think that there are places like your "lost drive" where life goes on so peacefully.
Nice that you included shots of your lovely wife.
Thanks for posting.
Things are so quiet here .. I thought I'd post an old trip-film video of the Panama Canal. This was the Cunard Ship Queen Elizabeth's maiden transit of the canal in 2011.

"Butterfly Afternoon" can be found on Vimeo and YouTube. Take your pick but make sure you are being streamed the 1080 50p version. I find that both platforms sometimes stream me lower versions of videos even though I've a 50 Mbps plus download speed.

Solid Eric .. nice work .. nice music .. good camera work .. I always look forward to your videos ..
Was this a trip organized by your village?

I'm sure my family all have iPhones which don't appear to do that..
I always learn stuff here in Alfred's forum .. I never knew about the Setting (in my S23 phone) to take a selfie that "doesn't" flip after you take it.
THe preview image, before you take a still or video selfie, is always the same, like a mirror. What the setting can do is make it automatically flip (after you take the image) so your selfie does not look like a mirror image. It's up to you.
Good to keep in mind when using the S23 to take footage to be used in a video production. You may or may not want a selfie to be mirrored. Of course, you can an easily flip it horizontally too in the video editor.
ericlnz wrote:Yes mirror images annoy me and many phones take selfies this way. For example a daughter recently visiting took a video while we were driving. Suddenly I have a left hand drive vehicle whereas in fact I sit on the right (we drive on the left like the UK). I can usually pick it up in photos by T Shirt lettering being back to front.
My Samsung S23 shows the selfie flipped but once you take the photo it flips it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "transposed." I played both parts if that's what you mean.
Looking at the "second person" I thought that you had "flipped" the shot over in 2D in post so that your face was different, as certain marks on your face seemed to be reversed.
Good catch. But if I remember right, I didn't flip it. I shot it in a mirror. It did give the "second" character a slightly different look and, it was easier to shoot it that way as space was limited.

Here's another one if any one has 8 min to see it. I don't think I've posted this one here before.
Writer's Block .. 8 min.

Bob Keen wrote:The only problem with doing that is that if the buyer buys multiple items, they end up paying a colossal postage rate, which would deter them ordering.
I didn't think of that .. good point ..
This problem seems to reside with PayPal. It's as if you make the changes within WebPlus but you don't upload the changes to your server so that PayPal still gets the old values. WebPlus seems to have the ability to make the changes to your shipping charges but that PayPal is somehow stuck on the old values.
Do you know what is meant by "These values can be used to override those set in your PayPal profile"?
Just for the record. I solved my own problem. If anyone sees this error when doing a Google Search instead of the expected hyperlinked Google listing "There was an error generating the navbar" then try this solution.
In WebPlus x8 goto Site Properties/Search Engine/Indexing then uncheck the "sitemap" check box.
Apparently the Google search error has something to do with the sitemap?? Not sure but in my case this fix worked.
I did not have to wait for Google to reindex the site. After unchecking the "sitemap" box, saving the file and uploading it to my server, Google search now works they way I'd expect.
Comments welcome.
Bob I found the page with the three options and I see they are themselves, Optional. Can't you just put everything into the item price and skip these options?
Well done Eric. I enjoyed it. This piece reminds me that life goes by fast so it's altogether fitting to "stop and smell the tulips".
If you create a new WebPlus x8 project, does it stall or freeze on your laptop?
Bob Keen wrote:I don't know where to find other options. Do you mean things like 'continue shopping'. When creating a payment button, a series of boxes accrue on the way to completing the creation of the button, but I cannot see any other options.
Is this where you are trying to change the "Cart Handling Charge" within WebPlus x8 ?
You seem to be using the E-Commerce Object in WebPlus x8. Is that right? INSERT/E-COMMERCE OBJECT/PAYPAL
After putting an item into the shopping cart, there is no choice but CHECKOUT. This takes me to PayPal. I suspect that's where the problem is .. ???
One of my old websites that uses WebPlus x8 is giving me this error: "There was an error generating the navbar"
This error occurs when doing a google search using Firefox and Chrome but not with Edge.
The search listing comes up ok but instead of the hyperlinked text expected, I get this error message hyperlinked. The hyperlink works as normal to link to the website.
Bob Keen wrote:It seems that there is no-one on here that can assist me with this and I really need to do something about it as currently, I am subsidising the postage on every item that I despatch, particularly as the 1st class rate has just been increased again.
Perhaps if I put £1 in the Handling charge box and £2 in the shipping charge box, I might achieve it that way.
Might that work?
Can you point us to your website so we can see what's happening?
If anyone has time, here's a tour video of mine about Stockholm dating back to 2009.

Nicely done considering conditions. Those GoPro's are incredible.
Inspirational for us old geezers. Rock on.
This does seem like a Windows error. Research this fix and see if it applies to you.

Can you create a simple, new WebPlus x8 project and save it?
ericlnz wrote:I was looking at a friend's young great grandchildren today and thinking that I was once young like them. Then I thought what will the world be like when they reach my age (I'm 81 in a few days). Probably in a worse mess than it is now.
Eric take heart. I am convinced that your great grandchildren will live in a better world. Perhaps two steps forward and one back but always moving ahead. I'm sure there will be bumps, some very bad bumps, along the way but the future will solve many of our problems and overall more people will be better off. Wondrous things are coming in fields like energy and health and agriculture and transportation and communication. That's my prediction. But I'm 79 so I'm not planning to be around to see if I'm right 50 years hence.
For some folks (who can afford it) this will be entertaining. It might also have therapeutic value for folks with disabilities. I don't see it being a mass market product for some years to come.
I think the real world is still going to be there.
Alfred wrote:Yet another wonderful creation, Paul! Thanks for sharing it here.
Thanks Alfred for keeping this thing going! It's still a valuable resource for us old Serif people.
I'm still running WebPlus X8, and PagePlus x9 .. if it an't broke, don't fix it
ericlnz wrote:Thanks Paul. Brilliant. Well acted. Where do you get your ideas from? And please what's in the bag?
You asked the "big" question. Where do I get my story ideas? By far, this is the hardest part of doing these little films. I wish I could tell you -- but ideas sort of come to me and I get a start. Generally, I start shooting test scenes and more ideas present themselves. It's a process. If I'm lucky, along the way, the ideas start to gel and mesh into something resembling a story with an ending. Getting a viable ending is the hardest part. Once I have an ending, I start shooting in earnest with costumes and settings.
I do write a script, but I don't stick to it. Remember, this is suppose to be "fun" for me and not work! Along the way, I generally hit a point where I lose confidence entirely and decide that the entire thing needs to be scrapped. But, somehow, I recover the next day and out of the mess I get it done. The most fun is final editing with music, sound effects and little transition touches that bring things alive.
What's in the bag? That's up to you.
