Thanks Paul, I am on lots of pain killers at the moment and right or wrong we are flying down to Spain tomorrow 16th as I have mentioned previously and I just hope that things work out for us, I have been lucky in life (up to now)!

Well I have the results, lots of big words that are new to me regarding problems with my lower back like "evidence of generalized disc dehydration and "scattered osteophyte formation" and lots more ! Basically it means my back is f***** !
I have lived a life around racing on two and four wheels from 1968 to 2013 with Motocross (used to be called scrambling) to out and out car racing. I was a sponsored car driver for years with about 300 race wins and two British championships and was in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) support races for several years, and raced abroad in international events. Also I have been a motor mechanic since 1962 so lifting heavy parts have also taken it's toll. Possibly if I had lived my life wrapped in cotton wool I might not have worn myself out like I have ? but who knows as I am often going to funerals of my friends who are several years younger than me, I think it's the luck of the draw. What does the panel think ?

Brilliant, as usual. Thanks, Paul. And get well soon, Gordon!

Thanks Alfred, I'll let all you boys know how I get on at the doctors and hopefully they won't have to tell me that I need to book a one way trip to Switzerland !!!!

Thanks for that Paul, brilliant! it just shows with a bit of inspiration and talent you can make a good short interesting little film without all the bells n whistles equipment ! also not having to pay anybody else (unless it's your twin brother)?
I am off to the doctors in the morning to see the results of the MRI scan and hopefully get enough pain killers to help me through this. I am determined to fly to Spain on Saturday as I am taking my 84 year old brother with us for his first trip abroad and his first on an aero plane ! He is so looking forward to it and I can't let him down. Wish me luck !!!!

Being an old 8mm film movie the image quality isn't the best but it brings back memories.

Thanks for that ericlnz, did you put that on digi yourself ? I have tried (with variating success) over the years by using my projector on a grey screen and using a camcorder that is sort of OK. I still have all my old 8 and S8 films that I occasionally have a look at but sold my last S8 sound camera to a guy in the USA.

Sorry to hear of your confinement to bed, it must be very frustrating. Please excuse my ignorance, but Is a 'herniated disc', the same thing as a slipped disk?

I do hope you get better very soon.

Yes it is, (and that's what all we old boys all know it as), but that's the technical term on the MRI scan. I don't know if I will be able to recover enough to fly off to Spain in a weeks time though !!!!!

I hope you enjoy them - around 5 to six minutes long.

I enjoyed all three Albert, however my favorite was the first one of the colourful canal boats. Unfortunately since we came back from Spain I haven't been able to use a camera as I can't stand up or walk as I am confined to bed with two very painful herniated discs !

I hope that you guys are all OK in this extreme weather ? After almost a year with no rain at all in Spain we had a serious amount that has caused a lot of damage to just about anything it got near ! Luckily our place is ok as we live in an area that is virtually impossible to flood unless we get a sudden100ft wave !
We are in the UK at the moment but popping back for a quick 10 days in a couple of weeks, we are only going for that short a time as we are taking my 84 year old brother that has never been abroad  or flown in an aero plane before ! I just hope that the weather bucks up down there. I have got my Panasonic HCX 2000 camcorder up for sale at the moment as I find that I just don't use it since I bought it !  It is unmarked and has only done 56 hours of work that is shown on the internal software, and it still looks brand new. It's a fabulous camera with all the bells n whistles, so any budding Steven Spielberg's out there this is your chance ! so make me an offer !!  When we came back from Spain the other week we found our garden and lawns were covered in mud caused from flash floods that had happened when we were away, but luckily nothing had got into the house.

All good, I bought another genuine Toshiba external hard drive and left the laptop on the marble floor and raised the rear with a book. I left the patio door open as it cools down to about 20c at night. It still took about 10hrs to render as there was quite a few transitions !!  Surprisingly the 2tb hard drive was about the same cost as if I had bought it off the internet back in the UK !!

Drive space is probably the reason as Windows needs spare space.  But also with a laptop, long render, and warm weather I'd be suspicious of overheating.

Laptops are particularly prone to overheating if they’re doing anything processor-intensive such as a long video render. I had — and I think I still have, somewhere! — a laptop stand which is designed to prop up the rear of the laptop, and it houses a pair of fans powered via a USB connection.

Yes Alfred I have one of those cooling bases !!! however it is over a thousand miles away !!!
I will pop out and see if I can get another external hard drive and a cooling base this morning, knowing Spain I'll have to get a second mortgage !!! however I do tend to leave the laptop flat on the marble floor down here when I render longish videos and have never had any problems in the past.

Hi guys, I am down in Spain at the moment and was asked to video a show for a charity event. Is there a maximum GB that you can use with Movieplus X6? I used two cameras a GoPro in 2.7k and my camcorder in 1080p. The event lasted about one and a half hours and the GoPro filmed the complete show, and I used the camcorder for various parts to edit in. However after I put it all together and left it rendering to the laptop hard drive it failed to complete. I know that it is very large in GBs and it has almost filled the C drive so that may be the problem ? I will pop out and get an external hard drive in the morning and get some more space and try again or am I asking too much ? by the way we have been down here for the last 5 weeks enjoying 30c plus weather so feel sorry for us !

Our third visit of the year to our local RHS garden at Hyde Hall. A lot of grasses in this one.
Unfortunately I only managed to charge up a single battery as I was in two minds whether to take the camcorder or not, so I missed out on the vegetable plot and its wonderful display of squashes and pumpkins, they were most impressive. That'll teach me.

Well done Albert! windy days are not the best for shooting especially handheld telephoto as we all know ! Bees on flowers never fail to enhance any video of this type as well as the changing colours.
Looking at all that lush greenery is a bit different to what we are looking at down here in Spain, although we did actually have some rain early Saturday morning (the first for at least 8 months) !
As to whether to take the camcorder or not, I always take one with me in the car as hopefully one day I hope to get that "scoop" video that I can sell to a TV company for millions of pounds !!!!! I also keep a battery charger in the glove pocket that works on 12v.
Albert I assume the picture at the end was the camera operator and producer ?

My video of Colchester zoo taken at the end of last month.

https://youtu.be/a3OwISLwgZw

We made the BIG mistake of going at the end of the school holidays, with lots of kids making a hell of a noise - anyway enough of my whining, hope you enjoy my efforts.

I liked that Albert, well filmed and a good bit of editing with music that suits !!!  Personally I would have done away with the audio of the kids shouting, but that's just me !. I haven't been to a zoo for ages, and the ones in Spain are not to my liking because of the attitude of a lot of the Spanish public towards animals (or at least the older population that love their bullfighting)!
As I reported earlier, Sue and I are off to our Spanish abode for a while and I hope to make some interesting videos. I do get roped into filming bands and groups when we are down there and some are quite good! as they are made up of old retired players and singers from "named groups" from the 60s/70s !
However we do like going on what I call "lost drives" off the beaten track (Spain is a big country) and there is a lot of empty spaces with brilliant landscapes and old villages.
On another note I have bought another camera, it's a Sony FDR AX700. The main reason I bought it is because a lot of my filming is for bands in difficult lighting situations especially at night, and the AX700 has a one inch sensor compared with my AX53. One good thing is that they both take the same battery, however the 53 has amazing stabilization hand held compared to most camcorders and has a better wide angle to max telephoto range (so time will tell) ! It certainly won't make me a "Steven Spielberg" but it might save me a lot of time when trying to make lighting corrections during editing.
This is the sort of thing I make, not everybody's cup of tea but the woman singer is very good for this type of song.

Sue and I are flying back to Spain next month for a while but meanwhile we were asked to model for a local art group. We really enjoyed it and would do it again if it fits in when we are in the UK. Keeping still at our age for3 hrs is easy!

Glue splices.  Yccccch.  What were the three ways?

Paul, that was only a picture that I pulled off of the internet but I think that it could have been a universal one for 16/8/S8mm ? I used 16mm when I was at school in the 50s, and then when I had my own 8mm clockwork cine camera I had access to unexposed 16mm film offcuts that I split and reperforated. Looking back 65 or so years ago it took ages to make a half decent film, and I'm sure that people today wouldn't have a clue what we had to get up to ?  In these days "it's possible" to make a very good film just using an iPhone and nothing else !!

Hi Paul, yes I had had a look at the YouTube videos that all just copy the information from Panasonic. Unfortunately whatever I try just doesn't work. It's a shame as it is a good camera although a little heavier, I don't quite know what to do with it at the moment and I might sell it, It's only had 50 hours of use and is still (cosmetically) in as new condition.

Hi guys, I have been trying to update the software in my HC-X2000 camcorder from Ver 1.3 to Ver 1.4 and have had no success. All I get is "Reinstate or check card" I have copied the instructions from Panasonic to the letter. I have tried it with a newly formatted card from the camera and my laptop and get the same result ! I downloaded the update from the genuine Panasonic site and it is exactly the same size as they say. Has anyone any ideas where to go  to next ?

One thing that I keep meaning to ask is does Movieplus x6 have gridlines ? or will I have to make my own ? as I have never found any.
