Hi All,
When I add a picture to a text frame, the anchor icon bottom right of the picture comes in with a default to float the picture with the text movement. It has an option to change to "detach" text from the picture. I always detach because I want to keep the picture in place in the text frame even with text changing.
I was wondering if there is way to make "detach from text" the default when inserting a picture in a text frame? I've tried using the "update object default" with no success.
Thanks for any thoughts. I'm using X5.
Walt
Yes, I've tried that and, in theory, it could work with considerable TLC. You have to go area by area in a complex image and the cutout isn't always what you need so you need to go back and do it again. The other method is to select a color you want to make fully transparent and then everything in the image in that color becomes transparent all at once. It's very quick. For something like a clipart image with a white background, the white background is all exactly the same color and removing does make the image transparent. If I didn't have this other quick way of doing it I would go back to PP and use the cutout studio as you suggested. Thanks!
Yes! X5.
I did try applying transparency to the whole object and the white is uniform. But the transparency applied to the whole object, not just the white so that didn't work.
I love PagePlus and have been using it for about a dozen years. I tell people it's the best program I've ever used and am continually surprised at still finding new great things I can do. I just had an important need for a good feathering application and it was right there and exactly what I needed. I've never used it before.
But I think this ability to pick a certain color and make it transparent maybe just isn't in PagePlus, or at least X5. I did find it in MS Publisher which I never use, but it was handy because it has that feature under the "recolor" function. So I made the white background clipart transparent, saved the image and went right back to PagePlus. I still wouldn't be surprised if there was some way to do the same thing in PagePlus that I'm just not seeing!
Hello All,
Recently I needed to take the white background out of some clipart so it would not be in a white box when pasted into the document with a color background. I found some other software where I could pick the color in the clipart to be made transparent. I clicked white and it worked.
I see PagePlus has transparency that can be applied to the whole object, but that's just to fade the whole object.
Does anyone know if you can make a certain color transparent in PagePlus? I'm working with X15.
Thanks....Walt
Just a note on installing PagePlus in a new computer. I just got a new laptop and I tried to do the install from a digital copy of the install disc for X5 which I had. The installation failed saying that an .msi file wasn't accessible. It turned out I had the whole installation disc on google drive (in the cloud) and I was doing the install from there. It turned out that the install didn't work from the cloud, but did work when I downloaded the whole folder to the new laptop and installed from there. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but heads up.
I am running PagePlus X5 on Win 11. I got a new computer about a year ago with Win 11 and had to do the install from the old X5 install disk and it's been working well.
Exactly what I need but looks like not present in X5. See image for "Frame Setup" which seems to be the equivalent function and which lacks the column line function. This is almost enough to make we want to switch to X9. I worry about backwards compatibility with X5 files which I have a ton of. Thanks so much for the reply.
After you make a text box and designate a certain number of columns for the text box, is there any way to automatically put line dividers between the columns? A table has line dividers but I don't know anyway to flow the text overflow into the next table column. Maybe there's a way to do that. Currently I'm manually putting in lines between columns. Thanks for any help.
I think I found out most of the answer to my own question. It looks like the entries that were successfully indexed without using WritePlus were the ones I had imported via cut and paste from a Word Perfect file in which the song titles were indexed. Apparently the index code carried over with the cut and paste. Songs that were new in the PagePlus version are the ones I need to manually index in Write Plus.
Hello..I'm using the book function and trying to create an index of song titles. The help area says that index entries can only be created in WritePlus. But when I used the index creation function in BookPlus it created an index without my using Write Plus at all. The problem is that while it got 85% of the titles, it missed many, all created with the same style.
Does anyone have an idea how I'm getting an index created when I haven't inserted any index marks in Write Plus? And why this would miss some titles all created with the same Title style I created.
Thanks.
Do you have the .ppp file? If you get a pdf you'll only be able to edit it in a program that edits pdf files, like PagePlus :-) or Adobe, etc. Not sure if your .ppp file will be compatible with my later PagePlus version
