This video is a salutary and chilling description of trying to rebuild lithium battery packs. The presenters demonstrate the pitfalls in trying, and the reasons for not trying.

The message is DON'T try it.  You will probably end up with an inextinguishable fire.

Off topic, but a useful information site linked by the backwoodshome site referenced in the previous post

It's about important precautions to prevent chimney fires in wood burning stoves, so common nowadays.

William, have you ever visited the tapestry museum in Bayeux?  What did you think of it, if you have?
My wife and I have visited it several times, on our frequent few days break holidays in Normandy in the old days.

The tapestry itself is a most marvellous thing, it's colours still remarkably vivid. And the general experience in the museum was most enjoyable and enlightening. All lies of course! In favour of William the B*****d. Besides the Conqueror, that was what he was called, that's true.

And, incidentally, the restaurants in Bayeux were well worth the visit. And those down the coast at Port au Bessin.

I wonder if it works like this. The first paddle uses the full force of the fall, ie uses all the potential energy available to one paddle.
(1) Maybe each of the 6 following paddles has the same potential energy usage, so you might get the 4kW.
(2) Maybe you would  get less usage of the 6 following paddles, ie, there may be less potential energy for them.

The first case seems quite likely.  You might want to make a model to try it before you go to the expense of a full size device.

The effect of a good outcome would be the same output voltage, but 7 times the available current, and hence power.

EDIT, Now I realise the paddles are probably not on the underside of an undershot wheel, and if they are in a straight line in a horizontal channel, then I don't think you would get the full power multiplication, as only one "slug" of water is  working. From the top of my head - not referenced to any data.

I have revised my result: now: 3452839

Shows the power of PagePlus Photolab. I increased the exposure control. Without this, eyeballing the image, I could see only those I earlier posted.

That's a very interesting site, Joe, but have you found it to be reasonably accurate?

BTW, wouldn't Affinity C++ be more useful?

Oh, where to start!

Oh no there isn't.

It's an Affinity topic, not a original Serif topic.

You might as well make your plea in the Times

No need to expand it here, it is a matter for Affinity  providers and users.

The link you will find in the referenced post in the Affinity forum is actually a fascinating video  on drawing with Turtle graphics a plot involving  numbers with a large number of digits.  I would thank William J G O for that.

Perhaps that is part of why I feel upset inside when people unilaterally choose to omit one of them.

But, I assume,  use of two given names or initials is the maximum allowed by some computer software.

I knew a man who had something like six given names. Could he insist that all were used in a form, based on your logic? Why not?

Certainly, full names must be entered on legal documents like birth, passport, marriage and death certificates. But I think that space is provided on these. Your local store would be quite happy with one given name or identifier. Again how do you identify yourself when meeting someone new. Do you say: "I'm William Overington," or "I'm William J G Overington?"

An edited version of a person's name is not identifying a person.

But it is for this purpose:

The use of names entered in a computer form is usually basically to identify the person.
For this purpose, two given names or their initials are usually sufficient.

The insistence on using more than necessary identifiers calling for more, or more complex, processing power, has overtones, to my mind, of egoism.

Also, wanting to use only two identifying given names, besides the the family name in not wrong thinking - it is different thinking. The fact that you have three given names is a function of the thinking of your parents, not of your worth, as good as it is.

The use of names entered in a computer form is usually basically to identify the person.
For this purpose, two given names or their initials are usually sufficient.
Insistence on adding a third means an additional placeholder per entry form, and a further sort criterion.
Adding these to an existing data base would probably be a major cost, and not justified so that you could personally insist on all three..

I think there can be only a small proportion of people with three first names, and while informal communications and grand invitations can be expected to use all three, computer generated forms would have only two for practical reasons.

Vicar: "Its a Yew."
Visitor, to his wife: See,  it's a me tree."
Vicar: "No sir, it's not a me, it's a Yew."
Visitor: "That's what I said, it's a me..."

So on  ad infinitem

What about it?

There comes a point where trivia is trivia.

This video is about:
"Kharkovchanka" - The Colossal Soviet Antarctic Cruisers.

The Soviet, including the Ukraine, constructed these huge vehicles to operate in the wilds of Antarctica. The video gives insight into the technical problems in all areas of construction of them, from track size to bolts leaking heat through the insulation.

And views of the Antarctic wilderness, too.

Its called "If You Laugh 2 Times, You Have to Replay the Video"

Obviously, I should have rerun it  several times.

Nurse to visitor: "This patient thinks he's Napoleon."

Visitor: "Can he tell you where he comes from?"

Patient: "Cors-'I -can"

This fascinating  video shows many things which have suffered the ravages of time, that is, aging,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s9Vt-G … &t=256

I picked up this video of loads of tips for making things easier in the workshop, and some for DIY.

It's in Russian, but no speech. Not needed, as well demonstrated.

Admittedly, you probably won't want all the tips shown, but just one may be the solution to "How can I do that?"

BIG EDIT, sorry>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I've screwed it up again, senior moments and relying on useless short term memory (~1nSec)

I meant today's bizarro comic.

The Bizarro.com shows it as a "square", that is nearly square, perhaps, without going to it to measure it, ratio 4x5, wxh, and the kingdom site as a letterbox.

Hopefully I can incorporate both here.

This means that, in the bizarro .com panel,  the elements in the picture itself are disposed differently, to coin terms "squarewise" whereas the Kingdom panel is disposed "letterboxwise"

It can't be a browser difference, as this particular Tuesday panel must have been redrawn. It doesn't happen when comparing other day's comics.

The bizarro site:

The Kingdom site:

This video is demonstration of a reel-to-reel tape recorder, in an old style, but with a modern take.

There is a surprise under the heads cover!

Have you compared the Sunday 6 Feb cartoon on the Bizarro site with that on the King Features site?

Portrait vs. letterbox.

But not Saturday - same aspect ratio.
