It’s been like that for a very long time, Vicki. There was a Windows update that messed things up.

If I remember correctly, once you’ve launched PagePlus with the first double-click you just need to double-click on the file a second time to open it in PP.

Sometimes it is worth searching (google, etc., I use duckduckgo) for any expressions which look like addresses. Like, in this case "stephenandjill". Sometime it yields more info about the "nominal" sender - often hijacked/spammed.

In this case, Stephen and Jill aren’t the owners of an email account that has been hijacked for the purpose of sending spam. They’re the recipients of the unwanted emails.

So the happy news is that PagePlus is working fine after all

Happy news indeed! Thanks for the update.

Did I misclick to create this issue? or was it a shutdown error with files open?

I’m really not sure! These old applications just seem to get bogged down over time, and clearing out the %AppData% and associated registry entries gives you a fresh start.

Welcome, Eduardo! https://punster.me/images/smile.gif

You shouldn’t need to reinstall the software, but your original registration key will no longer work if you ever do decide to reinstall it. Use the universal registration key 881887 instead.

To solve the problem of crashing on (or shortly after) startup, try holding down the Ctrl key while you launch the program. Keep that key held down until a confirmation dialog pops up, and then put a tick in the ‘Also delete local settings files’ checkbox before confirming that you want to reset your user settings.

I can’t help but be reminded of a TV skit where Frankie Howerd played an Ancient Briton with a speech impediment. He explains that he was captured when he tried to issue a warning about an invasion: “I said ‘The Woemans are coming, the Woemans are coming! Get out the woad!!’ and they all wan away.”

I notice that there is not much activity here, but no harm in posting.

No harm at all! The member list is currently quite small, but perhaps it will grow now that a link has been added to the FAQs on the Affinity Forums.

As are you, Paul. Thanks for sharing your beautifully made and hugely enjoyable video.

I’ve just seen a post on the Serif Affinity Forums from someone who mentioned discussion of this problem on an Affinity Designer group on Facebook. It seems to be a widespread problem, but I’m afraid I don’t have any helpful suggestions about how to tackle it.

Thanks for the little ditty, Jack! I, too, found it hard not to see the yin-yang connection.

LOL. I’m reminded of a little phrasebook that was compiled by a Portuguese man who knew little or no English. He used, if I remember correctly, a Portuguese-French dictionary and a French-English dictionary to achieve the feat, and in doing so he came up with wonderful phrases (that every native English speaker knows!) like “to craunch the marmoset”.

I'll see if I can get some more pics, but she is a difficult colour to show up well.

Thanks, Jack. If she really has changed so little over the past nine years, perhaps you could simply dig out the previous pic and post that one!
